Mark Phooi is a Singaporean entrepreneur, educator, and design industry leader best known as the founder and CEO of First Media Pte Ltd and the founder of First Media Design School. He began his entrepreneurial journey by starting Lancer Design with only S$2,000, later growing it into a regional design and media group. His career reflects a strong combination of creativity, commercial discipline, and resilience, positioning him as a “designpreneur” who helped bridge design thinking with business growth.
Over more than three decades, Mark has contributed to design education, brand consultancy, entrepreneurship, and creative industry development across Asia. Through First Media Design School, he has supported the training of industry-ready designers, emphasizing both creative capability and business awareness. His journey from modest beginnings to becoming a recognised entrepreneur makes him a strong example of perseverance, reinvention, and practical leadership in the creative economy.
